THE SCIENCE.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance naturally found within the skin that supports hydration, softness, and structural integrity.
When placed beneath the skin, dermal filler provides subtle support and refinement within targeted areas of the face. Different formulations are designed to behave differently within the tissue, allowing treatment to be tailored carefully depending on the area being treated and the desired outcome.
Over time, the product gradually integrates within the surrounding tissue before being naturally metabolised by the body.

THE TREATMENT.
Each treatment area is approached using different techniques depending on the anatomy, level of support required, and overall treatment goals.
Most dermal fillers contain local anaesthetic, making treatment generally well tolerated, but for additional comfort, numbing cream can be applied beforehand if desired. Depending on the treatment area, you may experience slight pressure or tenderness during treatment, however this is generally short-lived.

WHAT TO EXPECT.

PRE-TREATMENT
Prior to your appointment, you will complete a medical history form to ensure treatment is safe and appropriate for you.
To help minimise bruising, avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment and limit caffeine on the day where possible. Advanced skin treatments such as chemical peels, IPL, or microdermabrasion should also be avoided for two weeks prior to treatment.
It is also recommended to allow a minimum of two weeks between any dental procedures or vaccinations and dermal filler treatment.

POST-TREATMENT
Mild swelling, tenderness, redness, or bruising may occur following treatment and will generally settle gradually over the following days.
For the first 24–48 hours, avoid excessive pressure, strenuous exercise, alcohol, and heat exposure, including saunas and steam rooms. Facials, massage, advanced skin treatments, dental procedures, and air travel should also be postponed for at least two weeks following treatment.
As swelling settles and the product integrates within the tissue, minor asymmetry or unevenness may be noticeable initially and typically resolves naturally over time.
3.
RESULTS & LONGEVITY
Results are visible immediately following treatment, with further refinement as any initial swelling settles over the following one to two weeks.
It can take four to six weeks for dermal filler to fully integrate within the surrounding tissue, during which time the result will continue to settle and refine naturally.
Longevity varies depending on the treatment area, metabolism, and individual lifestyle factors, with results typically lasting between six and eighteen months before gradually softening as the product is naturally metabolised by the body.

RISKS & POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS.
Dermal filler is a longstanding treatment within aesthetic medicine, however as with any injectable procedure, risks and possible side effects can occur.
Temporary swelling, tenderness, redness, or bruising may occur following treatment and will generally settle over the following days. Less commonly, asymmetry, lumpiness, delayed swelling, or infection can occur. Vascular complications are rare, but possible with any dermal filler treatment.
All potential risks and side effects will be discussed thoroughly during your consultation prior to treatment.
DISSOLVING.
If you have had dermal filler elsewhere and are no longer happy with the result - whether due to migration, unevenness, or a change in aesthetic preference - hyaluronic acid filler can be safely dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase. This allows us to restore a more natural appearance or prepare the area for a refreshed, balanced treatment plan.
A full consultation and assessment are required prior to dissolving, including a detailed review of your medical history and previous treatments.
